Flint, MI native Janet Haley is an actor, director, educator, and a maker of theatre with and for community. She is Associate Professor of Theatre at The University of Michigan-Flint, where she teaches courses in acting, improvisation, directing, and creativity, all of which have physical approaches + ensemble practices as core values.
acting resume directing resumeAn active member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), Janet is Artistic Associate with Michigan Shakespeare Festival and Flint Repertory Theatre. She received her MFA in Acting from The University of Texas at Austin, is a Cornerstone Theater Institute Alumna, and has trained with NYC’s SITI Company members since 2004. She is Associate Professor of Theatre and Chair of The University of Michigan-Flint Department of Theatre + Dance. Her theatre-making champions her hometown Flint, and is rooted in place: site-specific, ensemble-made, by-for-with community. She’s devoted to live, 3-D arts experiences…how they can transform us…how sharing stories in time and space, with and for each other, can help us value the past, give hope for the future, and ignite the possibility of the present.
